I just noticed that all my gigapans that had been placed in google earth are now placed somewhere along the equator near africa? I assume (hope) this is a bug and that the existing data hasn’t been deleted since it can take a long time to place each gigapan and I have hundreds of them, many of which were in use in projects using them in google earth. Any idea when this issue will be fixed? |

For example: Also, is there supposed to be a link somewhere to download the gigapan kmz file or view it in Google earth? |

Hi Tim, The position of your GigaPans is not just at 0 degrees latitude (equator), they are also at 0 degrees longitude (prime meridian). I suspect the data is not lost, but it does sound like a bug. If a GigaPan has positional data, it should have the link to view in Google Earth. If it does not, the map should not show up. Yours seem to be a hybrid case of having partial data, so the map shows up, but no link. |

Checking into this. There should be a link for Google Earth KML file like on this gigapan: http://www.gigapan.com/gigapans/30136 |

Sorry one has to set the “Share this Gigapan with others using Google Earth” flag. Otherwise the view in Google Earth button is not shown even for my own panoramas |

Fritz, let me know if your gigapans have the share checkbox checked. To access it go to your gigapan’s edit page, then click on a link: Place this GigaPan in Google Earth On that next page you’ll see a sharing checkbox: Share this Gigapan with others using Google Earth |

Angelko, sorry I figured it out that you have to set the flag and made a correction to my original posting. On the other side if I do not set the flag on my panoramas where I have provided the Google Earth data the system does not show the button on my own panoramas to view it in Google Earth – this I think is not intended |

Fritz I see what you mean about being able to see the Google Earth button for your own geolocated gigapans regardless of the “shared” flag. I will look into this. Thank you. |

Any idea when the google earth issue will be fixed? I have more than 200 gigapans and about 1/3 of them were georeferenced. I’m not going to be able to manually fix all them. Particularly since the google earth placement tool doesn’t work right anymore either. I use gigapans for my research and work and it is very important that we be able to share a gigapan in google earth with our clients and collaborators. |
