After trying to peer at the Gigapan bubble level underneath my camera, I realized that I had a more accurate leveling tool in my pocket: my phone!

My iphone and probably most smart phones have built-in multi-axis angle sensors. I have a free app called “Angle Meter,” and after testing it against some carpenter’s levels I determined that it’s really accurate! So if you struggle to read that tiny bubble level, try placing the flat edge of your telephone against your Gigapan surface and use any angle meter app.
