A relatively flat area between 2 steep creek/rivers. Very gravelly, gray sandy soil. Not old forest as there was an ash slide here in 1995 (www.geo.mtu.edu/volcanoes/central_america/costa_rica/rdlv/updates/rdlv.001.html
) that removed much of the vegetation adjacent to the creeks.Much wetter on this side of Rincón de la Vieja.
