Canon Powershot S95

A Levitation Delta kite lofted a Canon S95 on a KAP rig over the site of this Nearbynature Gigapan: gigapan.org/gigapans/80659/. A snapshot shows the exact location occupied by the gigapan imager.

Wind speed varied enough that the rig rose and fell constantly as the AuRiCo controller snapped photos in a different direction every five seconds. This movement made it hard to find photos that would stitch together. These 12 are badly stitched along the horizon, but the image shows the outcrop of metasandstone at the center of the Dryas patch, and the patterned ground where frost boils and stone sorting create a mosaic of tundra communities.

Twelve 10MP camera jpeg photos from Canon PowerShot S95 stitched by Microsoft ICE.
ISO 200, 28mm (eq), 1/500 sec. at f/5.6, focused at infinity.

So true, Ron. It has been major fun flying a kite in the tundra. It's I good thing I don't live around here anymore or I would never get any work done.
