There are many places in Yosemite National Park that are worth the trip to see. I would have to say that one of the "Must See"s is Glacier Point. It has one of the best "Bang for the Buck!" of any of the vistas in the park. The Point is a short few hundred yard walk from the parking lot. As you drive up to Glacier Point you have Taft Point and Sentinel Dome, both of which are a short 1.1 mile hike from the road, and the Washburn Point turnout. If you have the time, cons...

Composite, rendered image taken from the "Yosemite Extreme Panoramic Imaging Project", http://www.xrez.com/case-studies/national-parks/yosemite-extreme-panoramic-imaging-project/. This is an aggregate of 10 of the 20 500-shot gigapixel images taken at the same moment in time to document the valley's vertical walls for the purpose of helping analyze hazardous rockfall for The National Park Service, specifically park geologist Dr. Greg Stock. The images have already found repeated u...

As you approach you can see both the upper and lower falls. As you get closer you can only see the lower falls. At this time of year (late fall) there is little water coming over the falls and it allowed people to play on the rocks below.

This is picturesque Yosemite Valley taken from a beach on the Merced river in the valley. This consists of over 1100 pictures taken with a gigapan.
This photograph was taken a couple of weeks before Memorial Day weekend, with the waterfalls flowing nicely but not quite at their maximums as yet.
Can you spot the bear?

In the downhill rush to get to Glacier Point, many people drive right past the Washburn Point pullout without any idea of what they're missing. This spectacular view is what awaits them. Looking directly up the Merced Canyon you see the river flowing over Nevada and Vernal Falls. The bridges and John Muir Trail are clearly visible. Three of Yosemite's water falls are in view. This is the only place within a short walk of a road where Illilouette Fall is viewable. Mt Starr King is...
