- Description
-
Located near the entrance to Goblin Valley State Park, Wild Horse Butte is composed of Entrada Sandstone at its base, overlain by light colored Curtis Formation, the cliff face forming Summerville Formation and a cap of Morrison Formation. All of these units were deposited during the Jurassic period. A portion of the southern San Rafael Swell can also be seen to the right of Wild Horse Butte.
