Caballete is a Late Archaic (3,000-1,800 B.C.) ceremonial site in the Fortaleza Valley along the north central coast of Peru. This region, known locally as the Norte Chico ("Little North") is home to 30 Late Archaic sites, all with monumental architecture and no surface ceramics. The Norte Chico has been considered the cradle of Andean civilization.
