Description

林屋洞究竟是一个什么样的洞呢？从地质学的角度讲，林屋洞是一个石灰岩溶洞，属于岩溶景观，国际上通称为喀斯特地貌，是指含有弱酸（如二氧化碳）性的水，通过易溶性岩石（如石灰岩）地区，发生溶蚀作用，而形成的特殊景观地貌。此洞洞口低矮狭窄，是一个低隐洞穴，因洞深入山体内部称为腹洞，由于洞腔底板坡度小于３０度，所以属于平洞。从太湖水位来看，林屋洞最低处低于太湖正常水位１米左右，属于水洞。
林屋洞洞中有洞，一洞连一洞。
