Description

The boardwalk in the middle of the frame runs through the short stature rainforest of the Mount Ka`ala Natural Area Reserve bog. It is located on Waianae volcano (West Oahu), and at just about 4,000 feet, is the highest spot on the island of O`ahu.

I took this image without a Gigapan robot, just camera and tripod. I hope to retake the image soon using the Gigapan. I'll certainly take a much larger image with the robot. As one can see, though, focusing issues are readily apparent in a close environment, where the closest focal point is only about 3 to 4 feet away from the camera. Even a light breeze becomes a factor, too, with a low light, misty atmosphere. RP (Apapane)
