This image was taken on the trail to El Puntudo (southeast of El Puntudo), looking to the south. The higher elevations, including El Puntudo, were covered in clouds. This area is a transition between the miconia zone and fern-sedge zone, with miconia, ferns, and the remains of Cinchona trees (an invasive, subject of control measures). Zoom lens set at 150mm (35mm equivalent is 240mm). Light fog decreases the resolution of the areas further away from the camera.
This is part of an effort to evaluate the use of high-resolution panoramic photography (HRPP) for environmental monitoring in Galapagos. This work was partially funded by Galapagos Conservancy (galapagos.org
) and is part of the GigaPan Education and Research Program.
