Here are a number of visitors, and some tour guides waiting and watching for the millions of bats to emerge from Deer Cave in Gunung Mulu National Park / World Heritage Area.
Most afternoons (if it isn't raining seriously) around 4 to sunset (and a little beyond) - a large number of bats come out for a nightly feast. Some travel up to 100 km from the cave. As they just get out of the cave, they organize into flying donuts to build a crucial number, after which they stream out in a stream that undulates across the sky. The reason for this behavior is due to the presence of Bat Hawks - who, as could be expected, eat bats... They dive in and attempt to catch a bat or more for dinner.
