Los Gemelos are twin sinkholes (collapsed magma chambers) in the highlands of Santa Cruz. This image is the western one. Zoom lens set at 100mm (35mm equivalent is 160mm). Lighting conditions were tricky and exposures of the component photos were normalized in post-processing.

This is part of an effort to evaluate the use of high-resolution panoramic photography (HRPP) for environmental monitoring in Galapagos. This work was partially funded by Galapagos Conservancy (galapagos.org Will open in a new tab or window) and is part of the GigaPan Education and Research Program.
