About the subject: The Stawamus Chief, or “The Chief”, as it is known in BC, is named after the First Nation village on the Squamish River. It is a 700 meter high granite monolith that dominates the town of Squamish on the Sea to Sky highway on the way to Whistler BC. The main vertical face is 450 meters high. Three summits are accessible to seasoned hikers via a steep hiking route which zigzags its way up from the southern end of the Chief. In summer The Chief is a popular rock-climbing destination and on sunny days it’s not uncommon for over a hundred climbers to make the assent. I have tried to highlight a few of the climbers making the attempt. I may not have located them all, please feel free to add a thumbnail for each one you find
About the image: This Gigapan consists of about 972 individual images. They were taken with a Canon 50D fitted with a Canon EF 200 2.8 EF lens a 2x extender and processed via ACR and PTGui Pro.
