Detailed crossection of a live oak stump from Athens, GA, USA. Photographs taken by Forrest Aguar.
This live oak tree located on the junction of Reese and Franklin streets fell over a house and was cut down. We were impressed with the 74.5 inch (189 cm) diameter and decided to digitize it.
The tree itself is not very old (about 90 years) but its rings bear a detailed record of the local climate. It could be an example for dendrochronological record keeping.
