This porphyritic hornblende dacite was collected at Black Butte, a dacite dome located beside Interstate 5 just west of Mount Shasta in the Cascade Range in northern California.
Black Butte is the hill on the left side of Rich Gibson's GigaPan "Cinder cone and Mount Shasta (l6)" (www.gigapan.org/viewGigapan.php?id=1850)
