These are the eastern portions of what was once the Furtwängler Glacier, within Kilimanjaro's crater. An initial split was complete by 2007, and this year the small ice block became detached. A panorama of the western portion, from the same perspective, is available here: gigapan.com/gigapans/116760
This panorama is comprised of only 4 images, quickly taken with a handheld DSLR. Stitch.Efx did a nice job joining them together. Note that the left-hand image was exposed differently and not adjusted in Photoshop before stitching.
