MainTower I by John Opie

Start of a series of panoramas on top of the MainTower in Frankfurt, using the Olympus E30 and a Vivitar Series 1 200 f3 lens stopped down to between f5.6 and f8, i.e. f6.3. The lens is showing its age and does not perform as well as hoped.

This is a view to the east of the Observation Platform on the 56th floor of the MainTower. You take the elevator up and get off on the 54th floor, where there is a restaurant, and walk up two flights of stairs to the Observation Platform. The weather was quite sunny, but somewhat hazy due to relatively unseasonablely warm weather.

The Gigapan Pro operated admirably and flawlessly. I took a total of eight gigapans that particular morning on a single battery charge of the gigapan, but had to replace two camera batteries (via battery grip) during the total of 3678 pictures taken.
