Did it with a Canon 20D. Your right, no robot, too many people for a tripod although it would have been possible from a distance, in the crowd it would have been camera suicide.

Nice image. I assume you panned by hand rather than taking the robot into the park? I tried that myself at the Obama rally in Pittsburgh, but only ended up with maybe four or five shots in a row. The stitcher handled it fine, though. Your hand is a lot steadier than mine!
