I've been planning a shoot from this vantage point for quite some time, and lucked out today when I found a presumably legitimate access to this otherwise out of bounds location.
Victoria's Johnson Street blue bridge shown here is about to be replaced with a more modern structure. I'm glad I get a chance to capture this vista of the upper harbour before it's gone forever.
This is a 2x7(+1) panorama looking across the upper harbour in Victoria, BC, shot looking over at the Canoe Club. This was taken from a tripod using a 2 second shutter delay, and fired with a remote.
The 15 exposures that make up this shot were taken for 4 seconds seconds, all with manual mode f/13 and ISO 100, using my Nikon D600 and 50mm lens. I used my Manfrotto pistol grip tripod head, rather than my pano head, so I levelled the camera with the D600's built in horizon to get as level as possible.
All 15 shots were corrected in Lightroom 4, then output as 16 bit TIFFs and stitched together in Hugin using the Equirectangular projection.
Dust and blemishes corrected in Photoshop CS5, then final round trip back into Lightroom to balance the brightness of the sky and the ocean.
1401 megapixels (27831 x 5054), 702 MB compressed 16-bit 240 dpi TIFF, FOV: 206 x 46 degrees.
Nikon D600, Nikkor 50mm f/1.4D lens, 4.0 second exposures at f/13, ISO 100. Stitched in Hugin, Equirectangular projection.
