Description

Comet C/2011 L4 PANSTARRS graces a classic Texas sunset above the Wolf Ridge Wind Energy Center near Muenster, Texas. Pan Starrs made its debut in the southern hemisphere during early March and peaked in brightness on March 10, 2013 when it reached perihelion (closest approach to the sun). Viewers in the northern hemisphere may catch it next to a new moon on March 12, but if you miss it it will be back in 106,000 years.
