The section where this photo was taken is highly inaccessible and not open to the public, as this part has the most dangerous climbs of the entire wall. I hired a private Chinese guide to take me to exactly this location. We had an early start out in the morning and walked up the north side of the mountains to get to the top. As the north does not get any sun, we hiked for a few hours though snow and ice. I actually had to give my guide a pair of spikes to be able to make it up there. There was no trail - at least, not visible. We must hve been the first ones this year, who attempted the hike up here. The last section was a vertical 15m free climb up the ice and snow covered wall - with 15kg of photography gear (at least for me - not the guide).
