This is my third attempt to capture a worthy shot from this crow's nest above Yates Street Parkade. I consider it my most successful, a first in a sequence of many.
This is shot from the 7th level of Yates Street Parkade, looking down on historic lower Yates St. in Victoria, BC. To me, this is still the Victoria that I discovered in 1976, when my family moved here. Victoria has never lost its charm.
I leveraged my 16-35mm ultra-to-wide angle zoom lens to take a sequence of 3 photographs that I stitched together as a panorama in Hugin.
This 1x3 panorama is rendered using the Panini General projection to gain maximum vertical coverage. "Exposure corrected, low dynamic range" enabled.
Minor cloud fill using Photoshop CS6 content aware fill in the projection void, final exposure adjustments completed in Lighroom 4.
3 exposures, 14766 x 4746 = 70 megapixels, 349 MB ZIP compressed 150 dpi 16-bit TIFF, FOV: 176 degrees x 104 degrees. Nikon D600, Nikkor 16-35mm f/4G lens at 22mm, aperture priority f/7.1, exposures between 1/180 second and 1/160 second, ISO 400.
