Kiana, a pretty little Alaskan village at the confluence of the Kobuk and Squirrel Rivers, was actually behind me, up a rather steep hill. This quiet panorama nicely shows the cold, vast emptiness of the newly frozen rivers that provide food, transportation and recreation to the folks in the village.

I used Autostitch. It's a very nice little program. I've learned that the stitching is easiest and gives the best results if my time in the field goes well. The light on this day was uniform, and I had plenty of time to compose the images. There was enough light to avoid both the camera shake and the large aperture that have been disadvantages this far north.

Wow, how did you get this one to stitch so well?
