Description

The southward-dipping lower sequence of the approximately 100 meter Gunflint Iron Formation taken on a roadcut on the Gunflint Trail. Taken not far stratigraphically from the contact between the Paleoproterozic iron formation and the underlying Neoarchean Saganaga Tonalite. This sequence technically can be called the lower part of the Upper Cherty member of the Gunflint Iron Formation.
