Description

MeerKAT and SKA telescope is being built outside the town of Carnarvon, in the Karoo desert, Northern Cape, South Africa. The picture was taken on July 17, 2013.

The 7 dishes of the KAT-7 radio telescope and technology pathfinder are up and running. The PAPER radio telescope can be seen.
The MeerKAT bases have been build, and the foundations are being laid at the time of this picture.
The construction includes an airfield in the distance. The airfield is not finished yet.
The farm hosts the contractors' stock and some offices.
