From the south end of Pine Hill in Salisbury, Vermont. Taken with a Powershot A2200 modified by replacing the internal infrared block filter with a piece of Wratten 25A gel filter. The camera's red channel captures red and some near infrared (NIR) light, the green channel captures mostly NIR, and the blue channel captures only NIR. The camera was custom white balanced while pointing it at a piece of bright red origami paper under a hazy sun. This separates the red and blue (NIR) histograms by increasing the camera's emphasis on blue (which it doesn't know is NIR). These photos can be used to create false color infrared images (e.g. www.gigapan.com/gigapans/144700) and NDVI images (e.g., www.gigapan.com/gigapans/144709).
