Only really windless spot in field area on Jan 19, 2009. This area is along the southern edge of the Newberrys where there are key outcrops that chronicle the early history of the Colorado River. Sandstone exposed near the base of the bluffs behind my truck were deposited in a large lake that filled Mohave and Cottonwood Valleys to a depth of approximately 1200 ft following a huge influx of water from the north that heralded the arrival of the Colorado River. Long story.
