Huge dead tree on Rails-to-Trails path in Westchester NY, near route 100 and route 134.
There's a stone wall running through the woods in the background, it's one of the numerous stone walls in Westchester NY. Left over from when these were farms during colonial times, the walls are everywhere, even underwater in many of the man-made reservoirs. The walls are formed from stacked rocks and do not have any kind of mortar holding them in place, yet many have lasted several hundred years.
Took the picture using a tripod (manual panning). Did post-processing perspective corrections because the upper-most branches are really overhead and the raw images look quite distorted.
Photographed October 2008.
