Crossroads in hamlet of Katonah, near the Katonah Public Library, in Westchester County NY. About a 355 degree image (lost one distorted frame during post-processing). Self portrait too.
Pictured are several of the crosswalks where cars are supposed to yield to pedestrians (NY state law). I'd say about one car out of ten actually stops for any pedestrians. It might make a fun video study to see how many drivers actually obey the law, and find the ratio of pedestrian/victims to lawbreaking drivers within a set time frame.
The white object projecting upward to the left in the image (no, not talking about myself... though... wow, could I be any paler?) is a flag pole. I had contemplated taking the picture from that center spot of land, but I'm not sure anyone's really permitted to stand there (though somebody must when raising and lowering the flag). Maybe I'll try it in spring.
Photographed October 2008.
