Waterfall in Somers, Westchester County, NY, on the border of Yorktown Heights, inside the NYC watershed. Took the picture using a tripod (manual panning), while I stood on a large rock near the center of the stream.
The blue tinge is from a filter I used, stacked on top of a polarizing filter, simply to diminish the incoming light. The camera was set to its highest F-stop value available (only an 8) and I wanted to use a somewhat slow shutter speed (1/30th) to show the motion of the water. Ideally shooting at 1/15th would have made the falling water look better but too many areas would have been overexposed, particularly the ice and snow. A lot of the blue tinge was removed in post-processing but it was hard to get rid of it all without altering all the other colors.
Photographed 09_0207.
