Salisbury, Vermont: Lake Dunmore Road and Route 7 (2 of 3, 500mm lens w/filter) by Salisbury Vermont

Reflex-Nikkor C 1:8 500mm

Looking west over the north central part of Salisbury, VT from Burnt Mountain. The valley soils are formed in clayey sediments deposited under Lake Vermont 13,000 years ago as the Laurentide glacier retreated to the north. The taller hills were islands in this lake and have thinner soils derived from glacial till.
Notes: This is a repeat of www.gigapan.org/viewGigapan.php?id=25378 with some technical refinements: (1) the optically critical rear filter is present on the 500mm reflex lens this time, (2) the camera tray on the Epic 100 was modified for stability and level, and (3) vignetting was removed more effectively in Photoshop before stitching. Also compare share.gigapan.org/viewGigapan.php?auth=4814037915741df5442a4c5483f817a6 taken with a 200 mm lens, which almost matches the resolution of the 500 mm lens, and wins on ease of use.
