Description

This is #1 of two GigaPan images of the National Veterans Cemetary in Los Angeles. Opened in 1889 it has 85,160 internments and is now full. I had to get permission to shoot the photo and in the process found out that you are not allowed to shoot and image facing the names on the headstones, that is why you don't see any names.
I had wanted to photograph with the names showing so viewers could zoom in and identify individuals and pay tribute to the fallen veterans but I was unfortunatley met with an emphatic NO!
I didn't count how many gravestones are in this image, several thousand at least.
