There is a most satisfying pastime one can indulge in at the tor. What you need to know is that the tor is a mile and a half from the town and it is quite a steep climb to the tor. Also all the roads near the tor are single-track so there is nowhere at all to park. The council has provided a bus service that runs to the tor from the town but of course people prefer the comfort of their own cars and don't want to wait for buses or indeed pay for parking in town and for the bus.

This means that people park illegally, jamming their cars into the hedge or taking up passing-places for about half a mile along the road. Around 3pm the police come along and give everyone parking tickets - this is the basis of the Torschadenfreude game:

Ideally choose a splendid clear day when the tor has many visitors. If possible, bring friends and as much picnic furniture (chairs, rugs, cushions etc) as possible so that your party looks pampered and set for the whole day. Binoculars and vuvuzelas can add to this effect as can a long-lens camera on a tripod. Arrange yourselves in a line looking down to the road (eg www.gigapan.org/gigapans/20757/snapshots/154653/) and wait for the police.

You score five points for being the first to spot the police and two points for each person you spot running down the hill, desperately trying to get to their car before the police issue a ticket. You get a bonus of five points if you can cause the runner to stumble and roll down the hill by blowing your vuvuzela at them or standing up and shouting "look there's another one!" whilst slapping your thighs and guffawing with laughter.

Ten points are awarded to anyone getting a close-up photo of someone discovering their parking ticket, but you lose five points if the parker climbs back up the tor to punch you on the nose.

One of the cool things about all the GigaPans on gigapan.org is that once that they are up and admired, and then forgotten to-a-point, someone may come back to it and make a single comment or snapshot as in the case of this View from Glastonbury Tor, and then *volumes* of new information is added PLUS we have found an error(s) in Google Earth and Google Maps, so all-in-all this wonderful panorama has had a rebirth and has become one of my all-time favorites and has been bookmarked.
