This is the view from atop "Frank's Hill", near the town of Muscoda, Wisconsin. This is a very special place. There's a double bird mound atop the hill that aligns with the rising and setting sun on the Equinox (the twice-yearly day when day and night are equal duration). It's now part of the Ho-Chunk Bison Ranch, and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
I grew up in nearby Muscoda and drove past this hill literally thousands of times, not ever knowing what an amazing view it had, let alone the cultural significance of it. Major props to Frank Shadewald, who donated this land to the Ho-Chunk Nation and has worked tirelessly to preserve it.
