These rockets were deployed during the cold war, and were intended to shoot down bombers flying at 500 mph (800 km/h) or more at altitudes of up to 60,000 ft. Some of the missiles based at Sandy Hook used nuclear warheads. Tours are offered of the launch site and the trailers that controlled the actual launch the rocket.
