Vermont's Champlain Valley viewed from the first foothills of the Green Mountains. In the past 230 years, the composition of these forests has changed from dominance by American beech, sugar maple, and eastern hemlock to dominance by white pine, sugar maple, white ash, and paper birch. This reflects the increased importance of tree species which are successful on abandoned farmland and logged forestland.
Notes: This 200 mm lens produced almost the resolution of the old 500 mm reflex lens (see www.gigapan.org/viewGigapan.php?auth=1f14d8e014cd3a815daeb40d4101db72), requires only 20% of the photos, and does not vignette. Case closed -- the 500 mm lens will go back into its case where it has been for 30 years. Author: C. Fastie
