This gigapan provides a view of the Richmond Hill Center Bus Terminal in Ontario, Canada.

The gigapan was created with 117 photographs taken with a Nikon D2H, 4.1 megapixel DSLR. The camera was equipped with an AFS 18-200mm F/3.5-5.6 ED VR DX Lens.

At the 200mm setting, the lens provided a 300mm equivalence.

The images were taken without automated indexing or a tripod. The camera was hand held and the overlaps were calculated and adjusted manually. The images were taken over a period of 10 minutes. The exposure was set using the area around the bus station and fixed manually at F/8 and 1/500 sec.

Post-processing of the individual frames was limited to a sharpening adjustment using PhotoScape.

This posting is a follow up to earlier ones 80 and 144 photographs. The gigapan with 144 photographs provides a wider view. It can be found at:

While certainly in need of improvement, the results demonstrate the tremendous potential offered by the Gigapan system, including the stitching software.

To further explore the potential of this technology, photographs for future gigapan postings will be taken with considerably longer telephoto lenses, including a Nikon 400mm F/2.8 EDIF lens.
