City of Kelowna.
One of my favorite Canadian city, sitting on the bank of beautiful (and strange) Okanagan Lake and producing the best (No .1) icewine in the world (also top quality regular wines), with majestic mountains, refreshing waters and lush orchards, it is one of the nation's most beloved vacation spots. The area around Kelowna is a treasure trove of unique geological features and ecological wonders.
It is believed that to produce the best icewine need the grapes grown from the areas with a latitude about 50'. There are only less than a handful of such wine-producing areas that meet this rule of thumb in the world. Among them are vineyards in South Germany, Austria, Kelowna, and East Canada (near Niagara fall). Checking the Google Map for Kelowna's latitude, it is 49.85'! No wonder the free-testing of the icewine in Kelowna was so good.
This photo was taken on a vineyard hill, about 12 miles from the city and therefore it is only a "big picture".
