Completed in 2004 with three one acre floors, it has 725 study seats, enough for 30% of the student enrollment. Sustainable materials such as linoleum (a 19th century English invention made from linseed oil) and certified lumber (loggers must bathe once per week) are used throughout. The library it replaced was built in 1900 (now that's sustainable). One percent of all campus construction cost is dedicated to public art, including the very yellow mural by Matt Mullican (www.middlebury.edu/arts/capp/mural/mural.htm
).
Notes: I tried stitching this with the "larger blending region" option to smooth out the blocky sky. It did that beautifully, but also bled the interior light excessively onto the exterior walls.
