- Description
-
The village of Symondsbury is located just west of Bridport in Dorset. The dominant building stone here is a Middle Jurassic Inferior Oolite that gives rise to a distinctive, warm character to the buildings. The steps and boundary walls of the church are constructed from Upper Jurassic Forest marble, a hard, shelly limestone that resists the damp and wear, making it ideal for the lower stone work and paths. The cross is cut from hard Dartmoor granite.
