Natural Grains, 1.4 Gigapixel Macro Photograph by Gene Cooper

This photograph was constructed from 963 individual photographs using a new prototype macro photography robotic system. The technology combines focus stacking, stitching, and a robotic photo rig to create each gigapixel macro photograph. Presented here are a variety of common natural grains. We found the shape and textures of each very interesting to study and put together an image of what we found at the local supermarket. In our testing we also looked at some processed foods that are made from these grains. The difference is very dramatic when you look at the additives, coatings, and flavorings that are added. Here however, we decided to present the beauty of the natural grains alone.
