Helmcken Falls in Wells Gray Provincial Park, BC, where the Murtle River plunges over the precipice about 475 feet high in a cloud of spray and mist forming an ice cone which will reach about half the height of the falls by early spring. It's the 4th highest fall in Canada and among the world's most spectacular. Some think the plunge pool at the bottom is nearly as deep as the height of the falls.
The cliffs are made up of many layers of basaltic lava laid down over several million years.
