This is the dock at Ushuaia in Tierra del Fuego, Argentina. Located at the extreme south of South America, Ushuaia serves as a port for many ships bound for Antarctica. Other popular destinations for these vessels include South Georgia, The Falkland Islands, The South Orkney Islands and the South Sandwich Islands. You see ships of considerably different sizes in this photograph. Some of them are essentially posh hotels sailing on salt water. Ours, the Professor Multanovskiy, is especially well-suited for real adventures in the Southern Ocean. If you are fortunate enough to explore the polar regions in this vessel, don't forget your sunscreen, but you can probably leave your black tie at home.
