If you want to hike up Mt Lee you should go to Beachwood drive. Watch this video to learn how to hike up to Mt Lee after obtaining a trail map at the Griffith observatory. www.youtube.com/watch?v=3fvF7IOleA 0
How
clear was the sky when you captured this? Had it
rained recently? I am thinking that I will need to
get closer to the city, but I also want to be able
to look down on part of the hill. I don't have
the lens I would really like because my shot will
be last minute. Nikkor 200-400mm f4. And a 1.7x TC
that I really do not want to use. There is already
significant vignetting at 400mm. I was hoping to
use the Canon 500mm f4 with a polarizer. Does the
Griffith Observatory area offer any views looking
down? It is about a mile closer to the core of the
city

I'm jealous because I drove all around LA (and even to the Hollywood sign) and I couldn't find this location. This was the picture I was after. Great job.
