Description

This is a hand-held panorama taken at sunset in Ottawa. Looking south to the neo-gothic parliament buildings from the Alexandra Bridge over the Ottawa River connecting Ottawa, Ontario with Gatineau, Quebec. The central block was destroyed by a fire during WWI, but the round library building survived. The Peace Tower with clock was built after WWI to commemorate soldiers lost in the war and veterans who returned. The Centre Block of buildings were also re-built at the same time. The West Block is presently undergoing renovations and, at the time of this picture, has scaffolding and white hoarding on its South side.
