Aboard C-17 jet. 110 people fly to McMurdo Antarctic station from Christchurch, New Zealand. After 5 hours flight we turned back due to bad weather at the landing site www.gigapan.org/gigapans/17976/ . We made so called boomerang and spent next 5 hours heading north to Christchurch.

    nathantw, We were lucky to fly C-17 jet. Some people experienced the boomerang flight on Hercules C-130 www.gigapan.org/gigapans/19393/ It takes 8-9 hours one way from Christchurch, NZ to the Ross Island where the McMurdo station is located.
