- Description
-
This is the Chapel of St. Joseph of Arimathea of the Washington National Cathedral in Washington, DC, USA. It is located on the lower level of the building, directly under the crossing of the upper level. According to the Cathedral brochure, the use of the Romanesque style of architecture (rounded arches and a "heavier" feel than Gothic) imitates the the medieval custom of constructing a Gothic structure (the Cathedral is a Gothic style) over an earlier Romanesque one. The remains of Helen Keller and Anne Sullivan are interred in this chapel.
