You can determine the times when the sun will illuminate the buildings by using Google Earth. Google earth will provide you with a slider control and will model sun and shadows for any time and date. You need to press the sun icon at the top of Google Earth to display the slider control and render the sun. Also, the web site time and date will provide you with sunrise, solar noon, and sunset info for major cities.
