Description

A larger version (taken with 200mm of a previously uploaded picture taken with 70mm) of the volcano Nevado de Toluca, in the state of Mexico, Mexico. This was stiched with the new GiaPan Stitch.

As you can see, the panorama has many stitching problems. I will use another program to put the panorama together because it seems odd that despite good the detail on the pictures it didn't propertly match so many of the images.

Very nice panorama. The photographs have nice tonality and very low noise. Autopano Giga and Ptgui both have leveling tools. Unfortunately the gigapan stitcher which is very good at stitching does not have leveling tools or the ability to make manual adjustments to the alignment. Autopano Giga has an input for robotic heads such as Merlin, Rodeon, and Gigapan that you should use to stitch your panorama. Autopano has different algorithms for higher count panoramas that assumes the pattern and precision for stitching. This is necessary achieve a high quality stitch for panoramas captured with a higher focal length and hence a much smaller angle of view. The lower angle of view means that it is much more likely that there will not be good keypoints from features that don't move and are not homogenous. That is where a robotic head or a precise panohead with fine angular movements allows the stitcher to assume that each individual image will be located at a particular position with little variance in yaw, pitch, and roll.
