The Canopy of an Old Live Oak by JohnVanHornPhoto

This is another attempt to show the grandeur of the magnificent endangered live oak in the Mitchellville section of Hilton Head Island. The canopy of this tree covers many thousands of square feet. It is adjacent to the historic St. James Baptist Church, but unfortunately is not owned by the Church.

I intend to take more photos of this huge living being in an attempt to further capture its size. Springtime is ideal to take photos of these huge trees and get a good image of their branches. Their leaves drop this time of year before the new ones bud out shortly.
